Known best for its white sandy beaches and, what seems like an infinite number of golf courses, Hilton Head Island once again allows fine classic automobiles to take center stage on the tranquil barrier island the first weekend in November for the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival.
Playing host to some of the country’s finest collector automobiles is nothing new, and Hilton Head Island sets a beautiful backdrop with its majestic live oaks and draping Spanish moss. Saturday’s Car Club Jamboree from 9:00 AM– 4:00 PM features 15-20 cars each from the finest local clubs displayed on the Port Royal Golf Club fairways. On Sunday, the Motoring festival’s Premiere event, The Hilton Head Convours d’Elegance gathers over 100 significant invited vehicles for judging by Head Judge Dr. Gerald Greenfield and his crew. Awards will be given out in over 27 categories, including 4 for the featured marque Jaguar.
Esteemed collectors Joseph and Margie Cassini and William and Christine Snyder have been selected respectively as this year’s Pinnacle and Honored Collectors. “We wanted to recognize the Cassinis for their contributions to the collector hobby and the Snyders for their personal, ongoing support of the Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance. With invitations accepted, we couldn’t be more pleased with the two incredible collections we will be highlighting this year,” said Carolyn Vanagel, the Festival’s President. Scheduled to appear is the Pebble Beach winning 1934 Packard Convertible Victoria, a 1931 Duesenberg Model J Tourster, and an incredible 1927 Isotta Fraschini that recently won Best in Show at The Concours of Texas.
With everything from jaw-dropping classics to two-wheeled machines to wooden boats to amazing beach mobiles, Hilton Head Island brings out the car lover in all of us. Visit www.hhiconcours.com for information on the entire Hilton Head Motoring Festival.
