The Plymouth Barracuda came out on April 1, 1964, based on the older Valiant. The Barracuda shared the same wheelbase and a few other basic parts with the Valiant, but most of the bodywork was brand new. An interesting feature on the Barracuda is the large rear window that was custom fabricated just for the Barracuda by PPG. It remains one of the largest rear windows ever put into a production vehicle.
Power came from either a 225 c.i. slant 6 producing 145HP, a 273 c.i. V8 producing 180HP, or the Commando 273 V8 sporting 235HP in 1965. The Barracuda was also available with a Formula S sports package, which came with the aforementioned Commando, a tach, upgraded shocks, springs, and sway bars, and 14 inch wheels.
This particular vehicle caught our eye because it is unrestored. For a nearly 50 year old vehicle, it still looks very good. Thanks to all who sent in a vehicle today, don’t forget to submit your vehicle next week for Collector Car Wednesday!
